Sucking sounds??

My 2 year old X breed fluff ball has developed a habit of making wierd sucking sounds whilst he's asleep like hes sucking on something or sucking up his saliva..

He does it 5 or 6 times and then stops..

Anyone else have a dog that does this? Or do i just have a freaky critter!

Husbands Westie does this all the time awake or asleep, slurps all blooming night while u try and watch the telly.

Father in law does it with his false teeth as well, they both make me want to throw up am i the only one!

I wonder if its something peculiar to dogs with hairy faces?

My JR (4yo) does it, its almost like he's suckling, his ickle mouth twitches too (guess he misses his mum

). Mind you he also barks, growls and appears to chase rabbits/squirrels/rats & deer in his sleep too.

Oh Milo does those things from time to time as well!! He;s always barking and growling in his sleep.. its about the only time he bothers!

CM, its rather disgusting!! It does sound exactly like false teeth.. gross little bugger!

I'm glad he's not the only one!!

I think it is a comfort thing, like suckling. Our 10yr old HWV still suckles vet bed or blankets
