Hi I just want to hear some opinions about this recent behaviour of my horse: A few times lately she has stopped suddenly while out hacking - won't go forward, head somewhat downwards I am never sure whether to expect a forward leap or buck but she usually just doesnt and at best goes backwards (close to a ditch the other day...). This behaviour first appeared on a sponsored ride earlier this year, quite a while in, someone had come off and horses were suddenly coming back past us it was as if she was confused, maybe tired as well and just went loony.
After said first episode she was, for different reasons, sent for bone scan and x-ray of her back due to suspected back problems but nothing was found then. Horse had a couple of months off in the field and is now slowly coming back into work - oh, we also changed yards and she is on edge too a lot suppose with it all being new.
But today she did the funny stopping thing in the school, not as bad, but still. I constantly am paranoid that something still could be wrong with her as nothing was found but it also appears as if she is just a bit confused in her head when she does this does that make sense?
I am a bit concerned as this is new behaviour and if it is pain related where would this be coming from or if this is behaviour how to respond to it? So strange...
