My mare has had a fortnight off as we have been moving yards, then she lost a shoe and was really footsore for a bit. I had her reshod yesterday then rode her, and I lunged her today.
Her canter felt funny when I rode her yesterday but I put it down to her being very fresh and excitable as she is a very bouncy horse anyway. However when I lunged her today I noticed in canter her back legs were 'hopping' almost at the same time, and she kept switching legs behind and going disunited.
Her walk and trot were fine and she was the same on both reins. She used to do it a lot on the lunge when she was fresh and would buck as well, but she hasn't done it for a long time.
What do you think could be wrong with her?
The back man is coming out to one of the other horses on the yard tomorrow which is my main reason for posting, although she was checked recently and was fine. do you think I should have her looked at again or do you think it could be something else?
