Suede reins?????

I've just got a new albion bridle for my horse. The reins are covered with suede and they look lovely. I can't wait to try them out, but i'm not sure what the best way is to clean them. Any ideas or top tips would be appreciated!

Suede brush I should think.

Never heard of suede reins before, have they been waterproofed in some way or other? Suede gets soggy and slimy when wet doesn't it?
