My big barefoot boy (17hh CB) has an obvious sugar intollerance, which manifests itself in his feet and he also suffers with scurfy skin and tends to rub his tail when the opportunity arrises. He hasn't ever rubbed it raw and I've never seen him rubbing anything else.

Anyway, last year he was on brewers yeast and his skin did improve but was never 100%. I was going to try it again, although when looking on forage plus' website I noticed a product called Spirulina, which is supposed to be good for skin conditions like sweet itch and I'm not unsure of which to try?!

I should add that he is on a balanced minerals diet but it's still early days and we're trying to work out what works for him.

Any experience of these [products for these two conditions?

I'm banging my head against a wall here!!

Sorry Amy, yes I should mention he is on a slightly heaped mug full of micronised linseed a day and before that was on sunflower oil... which, come to think of it did help his skin.... hmmmm

Ah, right. Got to say anything I've known to have even the slightest scurfy skin clears up as soon as they are on oil. Corn, soya or linsead being the best.

hmmm yes... he is very frustrating... I gave him a propper good bath last night - really scrubbed him with a plastic curry and he's still scurfy :( I might try increasing the linseed a little to see if that helps...
