He is a exracer, 8 years old, and prone to sarcoids which makes it diffucult to sell. Usually very quiet to deal with and ride but recently after being loaned out he came back started occasionally rearing when being lead and tossing head when being ridden this escalated to prancing about when being hacked and occasionally broncing!

The last time i rode him he reared verticle with me to the point of nearly going over backwards it was on the way home so not like hes being nappy or anything, since he has had back and saddle checked and there was no major problems and is waiting to have teeth checked haven't ridden him since as not too confident about getting back on him TBH

Just wondered if anyone had any advice on what to do with him or how to help the situation?

If the problems have only recently started then fingers crossed they can be sorted. Book him in to a reschooling yard where they have the set up and riders to work through his problems. Horses learn bad behaviour as easily as they do the good stuff. He sounds like he's been bullying the loaners and has taken charge, the sooner he's shown the error of his ways the better. Fingers crossed for you x

Also when he did rear gave no warning or anything and then just carried on as if nothing had happend which if ound to be strange behaviour someone asked if i thought he was becoming a headshaker which i hope not as already have one of those

I think i will def have to send him for a couple of weeks schooling but would you loan or try to sell as the reason he went on loan last year was because i couldn't sell him and keeping him isn't an option?

If you want to sell/loan, go to project horses OR be very very honest with your advert and get it writing they know what they're taking on. I wouldn't be looking at over £500 personally though.

I'd suggest sending him away to a reputable trainer for 6weeks or so and see if it stops and then either go on and decide what you want to do.

as the others have said if this is new behaviour then it should be quite easy to sort out. if you are going to get rid of him (sell/loan etc) then personally i think you should try and sort the behaviour problems first- certianly if you are selling you are going to have to be really careful that you don't mislead anyone (not saying that you would but just be careful) and be totally honest about what he does etc... good luck :)
