Im looking for some feed/help suggestions for winter feeding

I have hari who is back in full time work and getting fit for competing(she is 9)

Then there is jae VERY VERY GOOD doer and just a happy hack.He is 16 years old)

Then i have my 2 yearling filly shetlands

I dont really want to go out and buy different feeds for them all(hari might need some different for competing).

Last year i had jae on Bailey's High Fibre Mix with apple chaff and sugar beet and that was it.

does anybody have any suggestions?

I'd go for a decent chaff (probably alfafa or grass based) with a vit/min supplement or balancer - this could be your base for all of them. The shetties and your good doer probably will just need a small handful of chaff as a token.

What Hari gets depends on his temperament - whether he is fizzy or not. If fizzy you might want to avoid cereal based feeds so you could add some speedibeet to his chaff and perhaps an oil source of some kind if he needs extra condition. If he is not the fizzy type then you could start him on the chaff and beet and then add in some oats if he needs extra energy or condition.

And obviously lots of good quality haylage or hay should be the basis of the winter diet - but keep an eye on the good doer and shetties - if they are overweight then you may need to restrict quantities a little, soak hay and/or put in small-holed nets.

hari is pretty laid back quite lazy in the school until she gets going a bit.

Yeah i dont think i would want to give her any thing that would make her fizzy will probably try some oats once she is more fit but not a lot to blow her brain. lol
