Hi everyone

Milagra has been suffering enormously with itchiness. I have no idea what has triggered it but she’s rubbed herself raw. She’s not fed, fields haven’t changed and midges should be less intense than summer.

My vet has seen her (of course I was concerned that the head rubbing was pain-related and linked to her EORTH) and had suggested I try some topical cream from a normal human pharmacy before doing a bute trial.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

My horse had a random allergy a few weeks ago. He was covered in lumps and his hind leg blew up. Vet administered a steroid injection and everything settled down. I have kept him on a low dose of antihistamines and all seems to have settled. Must be airborne as nothing else has changed. My boy is prone to summer allergies but never usually has anything this time of year!

Preparation H/Germaloids. My vet recommended when Granny horse rubbed her face raw. I also used Filterbac another time. Don't use Sudocrem, it gets ev.er.y.where...

Worked out Granny horse did this following big stress things, like moving house. Cortisol surge... itchy horse... rubbed raw... itch-scratch cycle.

I had success with lanacane this summer around a very itchy fly bite(s) on mares chest. Stopped her itching long enough to help it scab over, she had been reopening it daily itching on her stable door.
