suggestions on horse trailing head on ground!

hi there, today when I was schooling my mare she kept putting her nose to the ground and almost pulling me over front. when she was trotting she was dropping her head really low and whenever I did anything (trotting poles etc) as soon as we have done them she put her head right down. She has done this a bit in the past but seems to be getting worse. has anyone got any ideas?

Sit up and dont let her do it- it's naughty unless you're offering the stretch forward and down.

If she tugs you forward then a short, sharp take then give should stop it, you may need to repeat a few times for her to really get the idea.

I think Bossanova has given you the best advice! Its good to let them stretch down after hard, correct schooling but on your terms, this is a way of avoiding working correctly on the bit and using her back end she can then pull herself along with her front end and not really have to put in too much effort.

ranges from horse actually shaking head, tilting it to one side, rubbing nose on the ground, twitching and many more things

the cause is stil unknownbut likely to be multifactoral

some suggested causes are pollen, light sensitivity, air turbulance up the nose
