I'll try to explain this as best as I can, I'm quite confused about it myself though

Anywho, Darcy was shod 3 weeks ago. The day he was shod he walked back out to the field fine (As far as I can remember) and that evening I went on holiday, so my friend looked after him for that week. In that time a 17.2hh was introduced to our field and it has caused a bit of a stir but nothing too bad ie no kicking/ biting but a lot of galloping/ herding around.

In the week I came back I brought him in and didn't notice anything in particular, tacked up and went for a light hack. He seemed quite stiff / footy in his left fore but I admit to just assuming it was from not really doing anything or possibly having pulled something whilst out in the field and as he warmed up, the footiness went.

Anywho, 7 days on he's still footy initially so obviously any strain should have passed? He does still gallop down the 5 acre field every morning, however.

Have farrier coming out tomorrow incase it's the beginning of an abscess from all the wet ground etc.

Any other thoughts on what it could be or what you would do?

could be a bit of nail bind, but the farrier will be able to help with that too, IMO your doing the right thing and the farrier will advise of what he thinks and if the vet needs to be involved

Thanks , he's never been footy or lame the whole time I've had him

Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it tomorrow or can at least strike something off the list
