Good morning,

Could anyone advise which are the best slim profile velvet hats to look at? It's for low level dressage and the budget would not run to anything more than £100 really...

An unloved and unwanted cream agg on offer for any suggestions... :)

i dont think the Fiona is that low profile tbh:o Its more styled to look like a showing hat. For low profile Id go with the Champion Grand Prix.

I've just received as a present, the CO Fiona and it really is lovely! My CO H2000 might need a new home now though ;)

OP is asking for slim profile not low profile.

thats what i meant, slim profile ! i know the fiona is marketed as slim profile ( or low, or whatever you want to call it:p) but my pref would still be the grand prix. just preference :)

Champion Grand Prix Riding Helmet
For the traditional look that does not compromise on safety, the Grand Prix Riding Hat ticks all the boxes. Especially designed for the showjumper, the Grand Prix Riding Hat is low profile, modern and lightweight for a sleek and stylish look. Founded upon a ventilated glass fibre reinforced shell, the Grand Prix is covered in fine, rich and durable German velvet for a luscious, deep finish. With a harness made from the softest padded leather and featuring a quick release clip buckle for ease of use and absolute security, the Grand Prix from Champion is the modern day incarnation of traditional style. Kitemarked to PAS 015 1998 and BSEN1384 1996 for total peace of mind.

I have the Fiona's hat and it's really lovely, very flattering! I bought mine from Derby House when they were having one of their countless sales - if I were you I'd wait for them to do another (sign up for emails so you'll find out when they're on).

When it comes down to it anyway, its which ever fits and suits the shape of your head.

Recommendations are great so you can have a shortlist of whats good and is worth trying on, but if only one of those suits thats what youre stuck with :p

Just Togs do a very nice velvet hat with flesh coloured harness and it's only about £45. Mine looks very smart competing, and it's up to the BS Kite Mark thingy...
