Suitable for cross country?

I'm looking to buy some boots for my 14.2hh cob who has LOADS of feather!. We are going on a riding holiday and he hasn't done cross country before and we don't do much jumping so I want something to protect his legs a bit more. I'd use them after the holiday for xc, sj and fast hacking and hunting, I like these ones just wondered if they'd be suitable? I don't see why not, they are used for showjumping and won't protect the front if his legs but it doesn't matter much - I take mine with OR boots only because she never used to wear boots so won't jump properly with back ones on!

For cross country ideally your better with boots that aren't open fronted as open fronted tendon boots wont offer any protection against knocks, something like these are more ideal http://www.premierequine.co.uk/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=12826435
