Now as some may have seen my fabulous OH is buying me a horse

She is being vetted this weekend and hopefully ( fingers crossed) everything goes well and she passes, she will be picked up the following weekend ( you still with me?!)
Now she has been wormed regularly but as she is moving to different management ( worm count) Im not sure, but I feel I should worm her myself and then pick up with the worm count system...so back to the original question....

What is a suitable wormer for an 8 month old foal? Would Equest be ok?

Thanks in advance!

Equest would be fine as it is suitable for foals over the age of 4 months.

The panacur equine course for 5 days is also ok for foals, i used that on my filly when i had her at 6 months.

Equest is fine, there is advice against using panacur (the chemical group belongs too) due to increased resistance to that chemical.

Below is stated on fort dodge worming info -

New horses should be treated for all stages of worms with a wormer that is licensed to control benzimidazole resistant strains, and then housed for 48 hours. This will prevent them from passing any eggs onto the pasture and so infecting the existing horse population. Make sure they are given an accurate dose according to their weight; use a weigh tape or weigh scales.

Hope that helps :-)
