Fig had an ulcer attack Sept/Oct 2015. Successfully treated with Omeprazole and then maintained with Protexin Acid Ease.

There's no trigger or pattern, but suddenly nearly 3 weeks ago now he just stopped eating (despite the day before licking his bowl clean and making noises for his feeds etc) and then starting showing symptoms again.

He's currently having a course of gastrogard and then we will see from there (although if no improvement in next few days he will be getting scoped).

Bloods fine and otherwise all ok.

I'm aware that pectin based supplements can help with hind gut issues.

A few people have suggested sulcrafate moving forwards. Anyone feed this? What dose? Where from?

I've just finished a 3 month course of sucralfate in conjunction with Omeprazole for moderate glandular ulcers in the crazy black pony. I had to source it from my vet who needed to get a licence to import it as Sucrabest. As a 400kg pony he was on 10 tablets a day, £150 a month. It has worked brilliantly and he scoped virtually clear a month ago. We stayed on it for an extra month to assist clearing up residual inflammation. He is so much happier but as I fed it alongside Omeprazole I can't say which had the biggest impact. He has just come off it but will remain on low dose Omeprazole on vets recommendation until we have got him back in full work and sound again.

I've also just started him on Equishure thinking I'd see no change as he doesn't seem like a hind gut case but figuring it wouldn't hurt. Bizarrely within days he started tracking up again, cantering voluntarily (he hasn't wanted to canter for a year) and pinging forwards with ears pricked instead of feeling like he's backing off and stuffy behind. May be a coincidence but I'm staying on it for a bit just in case!
