My boy was clipped in November and in Feb he began molting but hes now really slowed down so all his clip lines are still very prominent hes brushed every night hes got a show at the end of may but im worried hes going to stand out with his stand out clip i also clipped aload of stars over his bum (its something i do every year different designs im a child at heart)
is there anything i can do to get the hair off him and his summer coat to come through there are patches where i can see it coming through... help

He won't be the only one with a late coat change this year.

To help it on its way I'm afraid there aren't any short cuts, it will come out when he's good and ready (later rather than sooner if he has pony blood!!).

Best ways to encourage the growth are grooming, work and feeding linseed.
As you are preparing for a show I presume that you are doing some work with him every day whether for ridden or in-hand classes. If you haven't already get yourself a shedding blade and groom at least once a day. Sometimes rugging and lights on in the stable in the evening can help but these are usually more helpful earlier in the year rather than now.

Take heart that there's still a couple of weeks to go until your show - I've found that if mine are late in their coats they will often lose them 'all-in-a-rush' with a few days of fine weather.

I would think within the next couple of weeks you will see a big difference. Our lot seem to have been slow moulting this year.

I would give him a good going over with the rubber curry every night (if you are not doing so already).

Thanks guys will keep this in mind i brought a ultimate groomer and have been using that and it seems to have thinned out some of the stars on his bum :) will get some linseed when i go for feed this weekend :)

It's been pretty cold for March/ April so can't really blame him for hanging on to his coat. Hopefully a bit better weather in the next few weeks and he'll ditch it all!

Mine is still SO hairy. This last 2 weeks he's lost most of it from his neck and shoulders and seems to think that'll suffice now! At least you clipped most of it off, I reckon it'll look fine in 2 weeks time :-)

Mine lost hers so quick she went bald over large areas of her body!
Thankfully her summer coat is now though except for her ears which are still in full on winter woolie mode! She looks redicuous!
There is a show on tomorrow but there is no way im taking her looking like this!

My Ardennes is looking like a car that's been stuck back together after an accident - grey back end, brown front end! He looks ridiculous! He never casts a clout til May is out so you're not the only one! I would concentrate on making what you can look neat e.g. mane and tail etc.

I helped out at an Endurance ride on Saturday and saw a lot of horses being vetted - most of them looked lovely until their rugs came off...to reveal patchy moulting! They looked even worse when they came back sweaty for 2nd vet - sticky balls of fluff everywhere!

I'm sure you won't be the only one struggling with partial moult!
