Noticed when I was brushing my oldie a couple of days ago that the Summer coat is on the way out and she is definately starting to look a little fuzzier. :(

Can't complain though...we've had a lovely Summer all things considered. Just wish it didn't have to end!

And here in New Zealand we are under a cloud of winter hair, falling out by the handful :D spring is on its way :D :D :D

My farrier gave me an old rasp yesterday, and showed me that when used on its edge it strips coat out in minutes, I did one side of my horses bum and you could actually see that one side of her was lower than the other where I'd rubbed her coat out. :D

My mare has been shedding since mid-June (she does it every year). I'd be really happy if she'd only just started now! It is depressing, her winter coat makes her look like a cross between a horse and a woolly mammoth!

My gelderlander has been shedding for about a month! I have just had to go and put his lightweight on as he was cold in this rain!!

Mine started the day after the longest day pretty much - as soon as we get even a minute less light in the day, he starts to change his coat. His lovely brown colour disappears (he is bay roan), he goes completely grey then the summer coat drops out :( Boo to the end of summer!

Nooooooo, Jay boy knows he does not have permission, he is all silky suede and no fur as yet :-).

TBF, he lost his winter woollies by April, and does not grow much anyway :-D

Both of mine are too :( When I mentioned it to another livery, she laughed at me and called me an idiot. Apparently horses don't shed their summer coats...
