Can anyone tell me of a good quality, cheap or reasonably priced summer weight, 1200 or above denier turnout rug with a neck cover (no combos).

I can't find any anywhere! Thanks.

Another vote for Amigo but it has to be the navy one and not the pastel ones (as those are only 600D)

Horseware Amigo again!!

The navy blue one is 1200. The pastels are lighter denier and arent so waterproof. Neck covers are easy to attach and stay put!

Can also recommend Shires!
Was always a Horseware person but bought a Shires HW turnout rug for one of my girls this year when she was out on her holidays and can say that it really stood the test well! So I would have no hesitation about looking at a Shires light weight for this summer!

Navy Amigo all the way

love my summer amigo-the navy one, can put the hood on or off etc and no rips really
only prob is its nylon lined so quite warm (like reeeeealy warm!)unlike the cotton/mesh summer turnouts. WB landa lite is aces, if u go to equestrian clearance they may have the older cotton lined ones

Would agree with this reference to the Amigo TO. But presumably you would only want it comming in to summer, and are not intending to turn your horse out in a rug during the summer?

Right thanks for the replies everyone, I'll take a look at the Amigo Navy ones then!

AmyMay my horses wear rugs all year round :-) but which ones they wear depends on the weather.

Amigo - Just watch coz there are 2 types which are VERY confusing! One is 1200 denier, the other is like 600 denier. One is called I think a "summer turnout" whereas the other is a "lightweight turnout". Go for the 1200 denier (think it only comes in navy whereas the other one comes in pretty pastel colours).

Mine is brilliant - Kept my boy bone dry all summer yet has no filling at all so he stayed cool. It didnt rub at all either since its SO light.

AmyMay - With regard to your shock at keeping horses rugs on this summer. Not all places are nice in the summer!! Up here in Scotland, most of the summer is pretty grim! My non-natives all usually have a lightweight waterproof turnout, especially at night. During the day if its nice of course I take them off. Honest to god, you should see my TB - slightest bit of rain even if its warm and he's shaking like a leaf! And one of my other horses has sweet itch so he has to have a Boett style rug on all bloody summer which I do hate as he does get hot!
