Well bit of an odd day - they parked everyone very close together on the hard standing rather than in the field.

Then the only warm up area was the collecting ring in front of the main arena.

Now every time I have been there before they have opened the indoor school, but today they had lessons in there. Now I am a wimp at the best of times when it comes to the practise area. I am terrified of someone either cannoning into my horse (happened to someone today), being kicked by another horse, or someone messing about in front of the jumps.

So wasn't very impressed, is this normal at SH BSJA?

Result was 4th & 5th in 80cm and DC in 90cm, but off the pace as they were some very speedy peeps.

Well done

Thats really good, I didn't see you, I saw the last 20 or so of the 90m.

Normally they have the indoor open but obviously wanted money for lessons and the show. It was definitly too small and I hate it when people just stand in there when there's little room already.

I just thought it was way too small in there and quite a few people not in control!

I had two horses, so you would have seen Peer jump (had no.3 down on him in 90cm, as I messed with his mouth, my other horse was clear on 32 seconds so far too slow!)

How did you get on?

Exactly, I got cut up so many times! With such a big ring they could have made it slightly smaller and had a better warm up area.

There were definitly speedy horses in the 90! I didn't see any bridles with a bit of colour so I'm blind

I had one down in the 1metre, but was still pleased. I put a video in the gallery

Im not great in the practise arenas either.

Great results tho

well done, I would have been very happy with a DC in 90cm today lol

I was warned about the warm up and having been to the Hand and the warm up there before the outdoor was finsihed thought it was ok. I was nearly last in every class so not so many people around.

I was there with other half. It was his first time BSJA and we thought the same about the warm up mind you we were only there for the 80cm so it wasn't too bad then. There was one woman cannoning into everyone though! He should have come third but as he was on a ticket couldn't. Think he will be registering now!

Well I finally registered after getting fed up of ponies in unaffiliated competitions.

However it cost me £44 yesterday in entry fees, plus diesel. Makes the £181 to join (RC deal & 2 horses) look not too bad!

It cost 16 quid for the BN at Hand yeaterday, there were 14 fences, so approx a pound per fence

Does seem a bit steep!

BN was £16? The 90 am was only £12. but £3 for first aid. I've got to re reg Dolly this week £78

CotswoldSJ if you had been at the hand you would have got placed - All the DCs did.

Are you going to the Area 41 show next weekend? Near Wooton under edge

It was interesting. I was parked right by the last fence in the first phase. There was a guy adjusting the fences and he called to the fence builder asking what size he wanted the oxer at. The builder (pony tail guy) shouted back - first rail 95cm, back rail a metre!!!
I was pleased as BN is really just a bit of fun & I wanted to jump bigger, but did think it makes a bit of a mockery of stated heights. What are the 'rules' about height? are you allowed a couple of fences over height?

Was that the brown oxer? If it was I took you parking spot!

No it should have been 90cm, you are allowed 5cm lee way for the ground etc but it was pretty flat in there... He'll be building on Sat at Wick.

Summerhouse beats that! £11 for the 80 & 90 cm classes. 2 Phase, so if you have one down, 8 fences = £1.38 per fence (versus £1.14 at the hand!!)

If clear and into JO there were 14 in total so better value at £0.79 per fence

..... I am not a sad accountant.... honest!!

Well the Hand was .... £12 for .90am, and 10 fences so £1.20 per fence and then the JO was another 6 fences so that would be £.75

The worse I have done was a 2 phase at £15 and there were only 5 fences in the first part and yes i had a fence

I was at Summerhouse yesterday too!!
I (somehow) came 2nd in the 90cm on a big chestnut - just kicked on in the jumpoff - then decided just to jump the one in the 1m as was really pleased with Blaze and had 4 faults on Flea in the jumpoff!!!

Yeah collecting ring was a bit scary - especially with all the outa control people!! ha ha

Was it just me or did you guys find the distances questionable??

Think I saw you Emma - didnt speak tho... sorry!!!
