ok So the sun shines for 1 day and my ponies nose is looking all pink and sore,
i used a horse sunscreen twice a day in the past but the effects are poor. (iv got a feeling as soon as my backs turned she rubs it off..)
Does anyone have any good advice or know of any good products?

Get a childrens sunscreen - at least factor 30 - they tend to 'stick' better and are more waterproof than others. Boots or superdrug own label are perfect.

For the already pink noses get some aloe vera gel (best from a health food shop as no perfume etc) as it is healing and soothing and also will do no harm if they lick it by accident!!

I use kids waterproof suncreme, the strongest I can find.
If his nose ended up burning I put sudocreme on it and it cleared up in no time.

I use Gold Label's Sunguard for my very pink nosed cobs. Works wonders. Put it on in the morning and it lasts all day. It'd a thick white paste that works as a barrier.

My coloured cob mare burns hideously even in moonlight (well, practically) and the only sure way to control it is to stable her during the day. Kids total sunblock is the best as pink nosed neds have no tanning ability in their noses so it's pointless putting lower factor suncreams on, as you would for a human. Masks etc can help but some neds (eg mine) can get pretty much anything off in about 5 mins. Take care about zinc and castor oil type creams - they're fine as soothers if ned has got burnt but if used as a sunguard the oil in them will fry your neds nose.
