Hi all, now that the sun has finally arrived I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on putting suncream on pink noses.

We recently bought a Haflinger who has a pink nose and bottom lip. I'm quite happy to get up at 6am every morning to put suncream on her but I'm worried that it'll just get rubbed off quite quickly while she's eating, drinking, grooming etc. Has anyone overcome this problem and has some advice for me.
Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks

Don't bother with suncream just use one of these. It attaches to the headcollar. He always had such a pink blistered nose even with suncream on - he would rub it off as quickly as I put it on. Never had any problems when I found this. They rinse and wash easily and are only about £8.00

for years ive had to deal with this problem and can suggest many good products, they all have 1 thing in common - ZINC it is a great barrier and stays on well. recent years ive used sudacream soothes and antiseptic (cheap too), similarly animal barrier have a good lotion and i use a sponge to apply this also soothes. past years ive even used the zinc blocks found in ski & surf shops my pony didnt appear to disprove of his deaglo green trendy nose, e45 also have a factor 50 that is hi in zinc. i wouldnt normaly use human lotions as they tend to contain oils. make your own choice of product but simply read the lable 1st. Also check your fields for 'cow parsely' it tastes great but contains acid sap.

I've used that banana boat babies sunblock 50, seems to work ok (and smells lovely!). May get my sister to bring back some surfer type zinc sticks from Oz though when she gets back.......!

My girly has a white nose, last summer I used the highest SPF suncream Boots had to offer & it was waterproof too.
I found that rubbing it in my hands before smearing it on her made her happy & not fuss.

I also use a full length fly mask from Premier Equine, they are the manufacturers for other companies & so cost 1/3 of normal RRP.
This protected her nose & also stopped the flies.

I use a nose mask made from special uv material, it works brilliantly im really happy with it, before she got this one i had to stitch 2 of the nose masks (like the one above) together as the did not cover the sides. Please excuse the dirty mouth!
