Sunflower Oil vs Vegetable Oil

I feed my horse a good glug of vegetable oil in his breakfast and supper. Tesco's only had sunflower oil yesterday - is it basically the same or will it make a difference feeding it?

I prefer sunflower to veg, and prefer corn oil to both of the others...... Not sure why as it gets more expensive as you change! Veg seems the cheapest and corn the dearest

I've actually switched to soya oil, which is supposed to be better for them. Must say the boy is looking wonderful on it.

Ive always given veg oil, Im not really sure why! Im sure that someone once told me that sunflower was bad for horses? Maybe Im just potty! IMO, corn oil is better for poorer doers than my hefting mare, and soya oil gave my old boy the terrible runs, so I darent go near it again! x

Soya & corn are better nutritionally. Soya is the best, but some horses will point blank refuse to eat it (mine being one of them!) I use corn as it is more pallitable.

this is so confusing :shock:

i've heard that soya oil is bad for horses

and that veg oil is rape seed oil and that's not good for horses

i use sunflower oil and haven't heard that it's bad
my horse looks good on it

but if it is bad i'd like to know

we need a definitive guide to oil!

I use Tesco pure corn oil....if its good enough for mary Kings horses its certainly good enough for mine
