I know quite a few people say how good sunflower seeds are at helping with weight/condition. I have been debating weather or not to buy some for a while. They have them in the local feed store for about £9 a bag (they are the black ones).
How much do you feed to a 600kg horse that is generally a very poor doer (can I have it in either cup or scoops please). I have found a feed that works for him and he is the best hes ever been but still needs a bit more weight although his coat is in fantastic condition.
I currently give him 1 cup of soya oil a day and a total of 2-3 scoops of alfa oil so would I be overdoing the oil if I added sunflower seeds as I am led to believe they are quite high in oil?
The rest of his feed consists of cereal mix, barley, fibre beet, pink powder & carrots.
