I have decided the key to doing dressage is preparation, in particular NO preparation!

definitely started the day as STRESSage. He hadn’t been out yesterday and not ridden due to the hideous weather. Schooled on Friday and not schooled for the last 4 weeks
Went out this morning for 45 mins before leaving and came back in covered in wet mud. Argh! I go into meltdown mode, groomed what I could and stuck him in trailer hoping he would dry in the30min drive.
Decided I was running late so stressed even more. Have myself a strict talking to telling myself I couldn’t ride him in this mood. So either go home or sort head out.
Managed to sort head out back into I don’t need to do this if I don’t want. I can have a ride round the warm up but don’t need to do the test.

Well he was an utter star. Such a super boy. Behaved brilliantly. Went into test and was great. There were a couple of mistakes (he spooked at a missing kick board and the turn left at b turn right at e was rushed and unbalanced) but he was forward, rideable and just lovely.

He knew he had been a good boy and got stuffed with polos. Was only prelim but I was so chuffed when we got 2 nd.

This is definitely the way forward for 2020.
i had a lesson last week and instructor commented on real improvement and asked what I had done since last lesson: errr, nothing hadn‘t even ridden him since last lesson as the weather was so bad!
