So I know its not a huge deal to most people, but I jumped a (very small) log on G yesterday, and we jumped out of a (very small) ditch! I don't think in his SJ-ing years he ever experienced much out of an arena, bless him.

Then today, I was schooling him and my friend was jumping her pony, a few jumps up in school, up to a 2'9 spread and he was feeling good so we popped them all and he felt to be enjoying it!! The last time I jumped him (and coincidentally the first too) over small fences he didn't carry me into them as if he wanted to do it, he cleared evereything because he was obedient, but it was with an 'ohhhhhhhh not this again' attitude, bless him. Today he was enjoying it, ears right forward into fences, nice bouncy striding and even a little excitable fly buck!! Woop!
I also felt like I was going with him well over the fences and relaxing into it - I'm a bit of a poopants when it comes to jumping so even 2'9 is good going for me!!

Well done you :D I know how you feel. I've been putting posts up about how I jumped 65cm :D I was so happy and alittle over excited. I know 65cm isn't big to most people but it's massive to me :) (I hate jumping :p ).
Hopefuly jumping that log helped your horse see jumping can be fun. :) Hope you continu to have fun together and your confidance grows :D

Laura, at least you've got a teeny pony so jumps seem bigger - G is about 17h!! Lol, you and Thea herbster seems to be going great, congrats!
 
Thankyou and LOL I can use the fact that Herbs is only 12.2hh as an excuse but the truth is i'm just a wimp. I used to ride a 17.2hh hunter. We mainly did show hunter classes but that was because the first ever working hunter class we did we won so were out of the novice class were the jumps where only 2ft6. I didn't want to jump open classes as the jumps would be 3ft so I said we would retire at the top. :p ;) :rolleyes:.
See i'm just a great big wimp realy :o
