When I was younger I had traditional coloured ponies that I showed a lot (amongst other things). Well I have had a stint with solid coloured horses but have bought a rising 3 coloured OLD x ISH filly. I want to start to show her to get her out and about but she has lots of white on her legs and like most coloureds I have com across has a fetish for poo...

I saw this stuff on youtube, what do you think.... is it show legal?

I have something similar, I got it from my tack shop for about £11, comes in a gold tub I think. We caked his feathers in it then bandaged them up the night before the show in it.
Brilliant stuff which really works, don't see why it can't be show legal though x

I do exactly the same as the vid and paint it on with a brush, bandage overnight and then brush off the excess. It's not a horse product and costs half the price!!.....Sheep face whitener mixed with water into a paste and paint on. Hey Presto shiny white legs!!! I'm asked so many times what I use as they really are white!
One big tub which costs about £25 lasts me 2 seasons and that is with painting all 4 legs week in week out.

Thanks for this tip FC - I am sure CWG or similar would sell that. What a brilliant idea.

Thanks for the advice, I will try it when the weather is better, she is decidedly stained at the moment!

Does anyone know if you have to bandage the legs whilst they are still wet?

The link to the Supreme Products one says to put the bandages on whilst still wet and then excess comes off with the bandage when dry and no need for further grooming, so I would think all these type of products would be similar.

I used to use a chalk block to do something similar - I would apply while her legs were wet, the chalk (just a cheapo block from a tack shop) would cake on nice and thick, and then I'd brush it off the next day. I never bothered bandaging her legs, but she's quite clean really my mare :D

Gold Label do a chalk powder that is very good if made up into a paste, I put it on the night before then stable bandage over the top, then just brush off with a firmish body brush in the morning (very similar to the method shown in the video)
No reason atall it would not be "legal" as long as you are only enhancing existing markings, not adding or removing them!

As above - I used chalk powder mixed to a paste, coated onto wet legs. Didn't bandage, but just left to dry until the morning and then brushed out the excess, any minor stable stains come out with the excess.

Just remember and BE VERY CAREFUL!! DO NOT brush any darker part of the body with the brush you use to take off the excess. I speak from bitter experience of doing such a numpty-ish thing. :o:o:rolleyes:

Best gear is wash with yellow fairy liquid and then rince off with Quic silver shampoo the shampoo is expensive but goes a long way

Can you use Silver Shampoo for humans on white bits? Or will it cause reactions with the skin?

Just a thought, as it's probably cheaper!
