Had a message from yard owner at retirement this morning to say she'd noticed Lari had had a knock, presume a kick but he was okay, nothing major and she'd treated it accordingly.

We've popped up after work to see him anyway and other than it being a bit tender there is no warmth or penetration to the joint so I'm very relieved.
The last but one photo is a bit weird, I thought it was an oedema but it's just the shape of his hock joint.

Close up you can see what looks like the arc of a hoof. He's standing on it fine although resting it as its a bit sore and walking on it fine. Expect it's because they're sorting out the pecking order with the five new ones.

He's a constant worry! 😉

One to keep an eye on but 5 new horses would give me cause for concern especially going into winter and the hay fights.
Oh the five new ones have been there for about six weeks now, not so new really and plenty of time to aclimatise before the darker nights . Most of them are ponies but they can be the worse! Anyway I don't really know if its a kick I am only assuming it is. Luckily they are all unshod behind.

We will go up and visit again on Thursday as we can't really make it on Wednesday as I have Slimming World and I really must go and see Mum tonight, I've not seen her since Saturday but the YO will keep a good eye on him, she's very careful with things like that.

It was a bit tender on the inside where the yellow line is. But I had a good feel and there is nothing major or instable, I moved the joint and he didn't react adversely. It's always at the back of my mind as years ago my friends horse came in from the field with a slight mark on its shoulder, you could hardly see anything and the next day she found him with a broken shoulder. But he was lame at the time and Lari is walking on the leg fine. Like I say there is no heat so I’m happy that it’s nothing too serious, but don’t worry we will keep a good eye on it.

Thanks for your help.
