Well I'm just in the door after a very busy day!! The cat went into the cattery this morning and I'm just back after leaving Super C D (aka Kiyo) into the stud.

I was worried about moving her to a new place as she's been in the livery yard for nearly 6 years!

I took her in from the field and groomed her a bit, checked her udder (filling up a bit

) and put on her travel gear. I didn't get around to getting the long brace bar for the horsebox, so I had to leave the partitions in and I wasn't sure if I could get her in

I could have done with a WIDE LOAD sign LOL
grin.gif
She did get in - not much room, even in the large double! And I decided to back her out for safety - she was like a cork from a bottle - poor thing!
grin.gif

As soon as I unloaded her, the Stud owner took her from me and he nearly had to break my fingers to release them from the leadrope LOL I felt sad handing her over and my heart sank as he took her from me
frown.gif
Strange I know, but for the last 8 years I've had her, I've never been in a situation were someone has taken her from me before..

She did me proud though as she calmly walked by his side to the stable and she didn't act up at all
grin.gif
It took her .000001 milliseconds to settle into her new surroundings and stable and promtly starting eating her bed - oh dear!

I didn't get any photos - I wish I did, as she looked like a pony beside this guy! She's 16.2hh and he must be at least 6'5! LOL He also showed me a little colt born 2.30 this afternoon
grin.gif
Well it's getting close!! She's due around the 23rd so fingers crossed

Thanks for reading

All the best, hope everything goes well for you! Glad she's settled in, which stud is she gone to? I was debating whether to send my mare to stud to foal but have decided to keep her at home as she doesn't really settle away. I have both the vet and an experienced breeder friend on call though so hopefully everything will be OK, she's not due for another 4 weeks but already looks likes she's ready to burst!

Hi Calzy,
She's in a stud called Owenstown Stud, it's just about 3 miles down the road from where I live

I'd love to foal her myself but I don't have the facilities or expierience

So, I had no choice, and had to leave her into a stud or foaling yard.

I wish you all the best with your girl! Super still has a couple of weeks, but I wanted to get her in before she was too far gone.

Who is your mare in foal to?

Oooh, I know Owenstown if it's the one not too far from Newbridge (I think!)! I've been there collecting mares and foals! Has a long narrow drive, a bit hard to turn into with a big wagon and it had fantastic crocus, bluebells etc. Aren't they English people there or have they moved? Judging from what I saw of how they handled their horses, she will be in very safe hands.

Good luck, bet you're counting down now!

I've heard Owenstowns a good place to send mares to. My mares in foal to Grange Bouncer, a RID. I'm so nervous, she lost her foal last year and I'm being totally paranoid about her this year. I wasn't sure whether to put her in foal again (the foal died during birth) but after discussing it with a lot of experienced friends and vets I decided if I didn't try again now I never would so I left it up to her and if she took the first time being covered after losing the foal it was meant to be, which she did and here we are. I'm still having doubts about it but it's too late to do anything now, so am just getting on with it. I was devastated when she lost it last year and I know I'll never forgive myself if anything happens to her, but the vet assured me she will be fine and last year was just plain bad luck and nothing could've been done to prevent it. Anyway have to look to the future now, the mare's doing really well and after seeing all the lovely foalie pics on here I'm getting really excited! I have the cctv in her stable and it's hooked up to the tv in my room so I can keep a good eye on her!! Who's you girl in foal to?

Thank you very much!

They are a nice couple who own the stud and if Super's happy with them, then so am I

Owenstown Stud is just outside Maynooth on the Dunboyne road. There is a long drive way - I didn't notice the bluebells, but I did notice the ramps - at the last minute!!

Yes, my nerves are dropping out of me - I'm excited and nervous at the same time

I'm sorry to hear about your foal last year

, that's so sad

I wish you all the best for your mare and foal this year - fingers crossed.

I loooooove Grange Bouncer
grin.gif
I love that picture of him jumping the XC fence - fantastic! I would have loved him for Super, but she has Pride of Shaunlara on her dam side, so I couldn't go for him

I wish all the best with your mare - fingers, legs and toes are crossed for you both

Well, I was reasonably close!

I remember we came out of the town, turned left and came down a road which had a park type estate on the right and the stud was on the left - but in my defence it must have been five years ago and we went all over the place! I love it over there, you're very lucky.
She looks a lovely type and so does he, very scrummy!

You were spot on, just got your towns mixed up
grin.gif
Yes, if you come out of Maynooth turn left heading for Dunboyne, Carton House estate is on your right and there are two studs just out of Maynooth on your left. Moygaddy Stud is the first one and then nextdoor is Owenstown.

I was heading to Dunboyne today and as I passed I had a look into the fields. I didn't expect to see her, as the place is huge and they've her stable out the back but low and behold there she was in the front field munching into the grass
grin.gif
Amazingly there were horses in the field with her, but she's such an adaptable horse - you swear she was there all her life! But that's the ID's for you, they take everything in their stride!
grin.gif
(please excuse me there, I'm always trying to promote the breed
grin.gif
)

Thanks to everyone who've given their best wishes
grin.gif
It is much appreciated!

Don't worry about photos, just make sure you have enough space on your computer for them lol
