Firstly I am sorry I know this has been done to death but I cant seem to find the name of the supplement or it might be a balancer that is in treat form so you dont have to give them a bucket, any ideas? Or am I just imagining reading this? Or does anyone have recommendations for just general purpose easy to give supplement in field eg a pre made commercial field lick one?.

They havent had hard food all summer (just salt lick and reasonable quality grass), both bcs 5-6/9 ( so can afford to loose a bit- neither currently in work) out 24/7 with hay twice a day if necessary (if frosty) but still plenty of grass in field. No particular issues atm feet ok just had shoes taken off.

Any suggestions?

I know what you mean, but can't remember the name/brand.
I feed Equimins Advance Complete pellets to mine - he gets 80g (rda for his size) which he eats out of my hand perfectly happily. It does smell strong, and there are several horses here who won't touch it - so you might want to see if anyone near you has some you can try first!

Yep, Equibites. I use them, and my horse loves them. They are cheaper if you buy them by the 10k sack than in the plastic tubs.

Are they any good as I see they contain iron?

I did query the iron content with the manufacturer and quoted the response on another thread on here. They basically said the minerals were balanced against each other, but they don't take into account local soil conditions. So they aren't specifically balanced for the UK.

They arent balanced at all that I can see:

Composition
Maize, Wheat, Vitamin/Trace Mineral Premix, Full Fat Soya, Fructose, Full Fat Linseed, L-Lysine, Dicalcium Phosphate, Calcined Magnesite, Salt, Blackcurrant, Kale, Spinach, Beetroot, Rosemary, Oregano, Rosehip, Peppermint Oil

Additives
Zinc 2,800mg/kg
Copper 725mg/kg
Vitamin A 300,000iu/kg
Vitamins D 35,000iu/kg
Vitamin E 6,500mg/kg

Although again, I cannot find the full nutritional breakdown anywhere.

Frank won a tub, I thought they were just treats.
the breakdown is on the tub and I did roll my eyes at it but said he could have one every so often.

equimins advanced complete pellets, less than a handful a day, ie could be fed from palm if you wanted to. They will send you a sample if you want to check palatability. My fusspot did go off them for a bit so switched to powder but he is eating the pellets again now.
They are quite low in magnesium and I know I need quite a lot so I top up but they are good for everything else.

10 treats weigh 100 gm so is anyone clever enough to work out how much copper, magnesium and zinc that would supply?

see my suggestion above, equimins can definitely be hand fed.

TBF the equibites work out far cheaper than any of the good options per day, even using the smaller tub.

If you find anything in a free access tub, please let me know !

Herd of ex brood, brood mares with foals at foot, and a year- old gelding, surely there must be something like cows have in a large bucket?

I think it's partly because tubs are either too tasty (most of us don't want them molasses based, most people with sheep/cattle do) and they eat them too quick or that most horses don't really self regulate so get anywhere near a daily allowance from a block/tub.
I'd get the breakdown on the various rockies licks, particularly the large ones given your numbers, I've known a fair few feed the rockies reds and the mag rich ones.

horselick.co.uk were producing some in trugs with apparently less molasses (any too much for me though) but seem to be not functioning at the moment.

I've been giving my youngster these several times a week in the field:

She also gets a scoop of pro-balance once a week when she comes in, but its not practical to be bringing her in every day to feed, or to take a bucket feed up there (large herd, don't want to die). She had a bit of wafering on her hooves last trim, so I bought these treats just to help top her up. She likes them, gets about 8 each time, they smell like basil too!

It's not great TBH as not really set up for average UK grazing, not awful either, I stick with just the chaff. I know very few people feeding it.

Blue chip do a concentrated balancer now which can be fed from the hand, I can't comment on the quality contents etc as I have only seen the advert.

Wish the Kramar balancers would list the analysis

They do if you click on the PDF icon:
