Hello,

I'm looking to put my spooky pony onto Magnesium (I have read about it being one of the main minerals etc).

I don't like shopping online so would an animal feed store have it and what would I be looking for?

I've also been reading (this seems to be a dangerous thing, this reading :p ) that it needs to be balanced with calcium so, again, what do I need and how do I make sure they're balanced?

Further reading, (see the theme?) also mentioned salt, so would this also be necessary?

For Info: 2 Native ponies at good weights (although one is leaning towards obese, which will come off in coming months with steady work). They are 5 and 10yrs, barefoot one is fed a handful of high-fibre nuts in a treatball, while obese and shod one is fed Formula4Feet.
They both live out 24/7 and have access to good quality ad-lib hay.

Any hints, tips or advice is most welcome :D

Magnesium will only work if your pony is deficient in this mineral. I feed Cal-mag which is actually a cattle feed a fraction of the price but the same thing. Yes you can od with magnesium.

Speak to these guys, very good for our area

Never feed minerals unless you know your horse/ground is deficient as too much mineral can be equally dangerous. When you say pony is spooky you might be better doing some desensitisation training - it isn't difficult and doesn't take long and can work wonders
