My horse has been diagnosed as having osteochondritis in his hock. He's on paddock rest and bute, possibly going in for a new injection treatment in the new year (with surgery as a very distant option).

I meant to ask the vet when I saw him last if it was worth trying a supplement alongside the danilon, but I forgot.

Does anyone know? I have done a search but haven't found anything.

It was probably Glucosamin which is claimed to promote cartiledge growth. There are numerous brands that have glucosamin, some in conjunction with other ingredients.

For what it's worth it's not clear why it should work or that it does. A number of meta-studies have shown no improvement and personally I think it is nothing more than sugared water.

Ha! I thought your horse had been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder (my old one had it, but the vet didn't believe me

) Try glucosamine... cortaflex? Ask your vet really.

My vet sugested Glucosamine.

If I were you I'd look at the surgical option sooner rather than later as it is a lot more likely to be resolved if it is seen to as soon as possible...
