Hey everyone.

I have a 31 yr old thoroughbred x connemara gelding.

I have had problems with his weight due to him being a fussy eater. He has now put the weight back on (thankfully) and is now on feed which he is really enjoying & which is helping with his weight. I have also recently moved yards to somewhere that has more grazing so that has helped too.

I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a broad spectrum supplement that I could give him so that I know he is getting everything that he should.

I've been looking into the new Spillers supplement for veterans but don't know anyone who has tried this.

I would appreciate any info on this product or any other product.

Thanks

Hi,

i have a 28 year old arab cross and when she lost weight we fed her veteran horse mix, with a handful of soaked sugarbeat, some alfalfa. this was dished up with a dollop of veg oil and an egg.

to gain weight horses should be fed in small, regular amounts. my mare is a fussy eater too, so add a little garlic to it, even if its not powdered stuff from feed shops but the fresh stuff crushed and some fresh chopped up mint from the garden. this really entices them to eat.

introduce new foods gradually and dont introduce them all at the same time this can cause them to get stomach ache and can also make fussy eaters go off their food.

hope that helps. x
