My poor lurcher has full thickness skin loss over a large portion of his front leg due to necrosis following a cat scratch. It is healing well, slowly, but there is still weeks to go before it manages to close up, and probably months for it to be fully healed.
Does anyone know anything I can give him to help support the healing mechanism from the inside, either to speed it up or to get a better end result?

Puff vet powder on the wound and maybe look for a high protein diet, it promotes healing. You could add red meat, chicken or switch to a diet such as Orijen. Poor lad, it must have been a heck of a scratch :(

It was a tiny scratch, about 2-3mm long with a tiny, tiny puncture! But just been unlucky, bacteria must have got in causing a massive infection under the skin, the swelling and bruising was unreal and just as that was going down the skin started falling off :-(

He is raw fed and have been treating him to more eggs and lovely goodies like fresh fish from the fish man :-D It is being treated with honey and neem and responding really well - far better than the zinc oxide based cream the vet prescribed initially.

Thank you for your thoughts :-)
