Supplements to help a horse with a cold

Can anyone recommend a supplement or product to help a horse with a cold to recover. He has a cough and a runny nose and has been checked by a vet who recommended rest but he didnt need any medicines. Would just like to give him something to make him feel better (hopefully!)
 
When my boy had a cough last year I just gave him a big glug of honey and lemon cough syrup from boots in his dinner for a couple of days. Luckily he loved the taste:rolleyes:There's no actual 'medicine' in it but obviously soothed his throat as he was fine after!
