Any good sweet itch feed supplements that attually work...? What do you guys think to dodson and horrel (itch -free) supplement...?

I am currently using global herbs super scratch, combined with their itch cream. They are not perfect, but he seems better on the suppliment than off. The itch cream (plus aloe vera) seem to sooth him when he has a scratching session.

I used to use D&H Itch Free. I used it on one horse whose coat was dull and patchy, although she didn't suffer from sweet itch, and it brought a strong glossy coat through. I also fed it to the horse we bought subsequently who did suffer moderate sweet itch last year, and I can't say it helped with the sweet itch on her mane and tail, though the rest of her coat came through glossy.

Neither are on it any more, and the one with sweet itch hasn't had it this year, but I have been using a fly rug from much earlier in the year and she is generally in much better condition than last year when we got her.

IMO, DON'T TOUCH WITH A BARGEPOLE.

Both myself and a friend of mine had awful problems with that supplement. First 2wks or so it was fine, then both boys started having problems going to the loo. It got worse, until my friend's gelding had bright red, thick urine, he then stopped being able to go to the loo (mine didn't get to such a severe stage). She called the vet out, and was told by the vet that it was the Super Skratch that had caused it, no doubt about it. Took them both off the supplement, the following week they were back to normal.

Vile stuff, and expensive too.

My mum's mare was on the feel good 30 skin supplement for her itchy mitey legs, and it certainly improved her skin condition and stopped her rubbing her legs raw.

im assuming you reported it to Global Herbs as thats an extremely serious matter - they are VERY effeciant there and i know that if they realised there was such a severe problem with one of thier suppliments they would investigate it properly.

No, I didn't report it, I just refuse to buy anything made by Global Herbs!! I find that whenever I do report problems with items, 99% of the time it is ignored, so I figure "what's the point?".
