My boy is a 16hh TB, he raced as a youngster and then did nothing apart from eat his head off for about 7 years!

I got him about 5 years ago and have been gently schooling him; he does about 4- 6 hours work a week, hacking, riding club activities and the odd lesson. We do a bit of jumping but no more that about 2ft. He is living out and is fed economy nuts and a vitamin and mineral supplement called kick on. (He is a really good doer for a TB)

My issue is that he is clicking behind during exercise; he can be a bit stiff at first and needs quite a while to warm up.

The clicking is not his hip but a joint lower down. It is worse when ridden and in walk. I know it is probably a bit of arthritis but my question is what is the best supplement I can give to help support his joints now he is getting older? There are so many out there I haven't a clue!!!

Thanks in advance

Pilib.

Bloss used to have really bad clicky joints (she has mild arthritus in her hocks). Anyways i tried her on cortaflex and mobility and neither did anything.

Then ive just started her on Mobifor by Neutrilabs and its FAB shes much more supple behind and her hocks havent clicked for ages. I definately recommend it

I have two with arthritis - one was retired a year ago as he was permanently unlevel behind, despite having the affected joint injected. I looked around for a really good supplement and compared lots of products. In the end I went for Feedmark's Extraflex HA - it is not the cheapest by any means, but it has everything in it, in a molecular form that can be absorbed by the horse. I am now hacking my chap out again - we only potter, but it has given him a new lease of life going out again. The other horse was recently diagnosed after nerve blocks and x-rays. She is also on the Extraflex HA. Have a look at www.feedmark.com for info.
