.....if u have reg papers and vacc certificates, can you copy the drawing onto the passport form? or do u have to shell out yet again for a vet to do it?
When I got mine (Horse Passport Agency) if you send a photocopy of your vaccination card with the form you can fill out the markings bit yourself (was a while ago so might have changed)

i think the difference between us is this: you are subtle about your horsey failings...i choose to sing them from the rooftops!
(and im beginning to fall rapidly out of favour with some people on here who take things waaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously!)
My horse hasnt seen the vet in years and he is about 30.
I dont get him vaccinated as I dont agree with it.
I treat him with homeopathy
AND, The way to pick out feet qithout hurting your back is to go for a trot on the roads
No.
Should my horse get tetanus, then I would treat him homeopathically .
I dont have the tetanus jab
My children have not been vaccinated either.
Not even MMR

My horse is done conventionally due to the rules of competing etc
but mum never had me vaccinated either, only homeopathically
never hurt me
its good to hear of someone doing the same, i was a bit of a oddity at school!
You should apply for your passport to the studbook that issued the reg papers as they will then incoporate the existing ID info on your reg certificate into the passport along with your horse's full pedigree. Only studbook PIOs are allowed to do this, which is why it is so important that you get your pasport from them.
ID only PIOs will expect you to get an ID form filled in by a vet. which is why so many ID only organisations (eg Pet ID) flog their passports through vets who get a commission for promoting them and the fee for filling in the ID form as well.
If you've no papers you have to have a vet or person from DEFRA out to 'identify' them. Vet costs about 60 pounds, DEFRA cost alot less but still a rip off.
ThomasTank - Are you for real?! You dont vaccinate even against tetanus?! Have you seen how horses with tetanus die? Its a horrific death. Is homeopathy proven to help in cases of tetanus??
I vaccinate all mine for flu and tet, even my 2 veteran ponies who never leave my yard.
When I was younger a horse of my friends got tetanus and died, it was horrific for the horse and all concerned, it wasn't vaccinated and nothing on this earth could be done to save it. Those images of that poor horse will always be in my mind and you guessed it George is fully vaccinated. I can understand not agreeing with the flu jab, but tetanus...............
