I've just been idley nosing through the jobs vacant section on H&H online, and there is one grooms position which states "must like horses". Would have thought that would go without saying....

I don't know - we had a temp guy who was actually scared stiff of them! And if you've seen pics of Grinder posted by Bossanova, he's like a giraffe and this guy couldn't get over how big he was (even though he's a big softie)! Funnily enough he stopped coming to work after a while...

I dunno, back in Africa its quite common for grooms to be locals who've never had any contact with horses before, and they are taught to handle and care for them exactly how the owners wants them to. Some of them even take up riding and I've even been taught/taken out on hacks (the instructors are far too busy to take people hacking, lol! by a few.

So, no, I dno't think its necessarily a pre-requisite. Some people only do a job because its a job!
