Just wondering if anyone has made a lunge pen or round pen and found a good surface for it. Something that wont move too much since the outside of the pen will take the most use, but something that is not too deep to damage joints.

Thanks

I have seen Tracey Timber recycled wood surface work well in a 20x20 lunging arena. It was indoors though, so I don't know how well it'd do outdoors without a solid edge to keep it in. It was very nice to work in though, nice and springy and not 'dead' feeling like some surfaces.

My friend has a sand fiber mix in her round pen it needs harrowing
from time to time but seems to work well, horses seem to keep their footing even when going like loons!!! I think it was supplyed by Mansfield sand.. someone local bought a metal panel round pen and used wood chips(bark) as the surface it was horendous horses sliped and more than one fell..
