I’ve just found out the horse I love to ride in Spain is being retired. I’m happy he’s getting to stop work as he’s in his twenties and full of running but does need to retire. What I’m ridiculously sad about is not seeing him anymore and not being in a position to have him. No land of my own sadly. Already have a retired pony to care for. I adore this horse. He’s very special to me. Only see him once a year but last five years he’s been in my mind. Everything crossed the universe finds what this boy truly deserves. A loving kind home.

I totally understand. My equine holiday 'romance' was with a chestnut QH mare called Athena, at the ranch in Montana we went to every other year for 16 years. Covid sadly put a stop to that, and we haven't made it back since for various reasons. I rode her for several times a week for three consecutive visits. She was actually a wrangler's horse the first year I rode her, but they knew we'd be fine together as I had ridden there for many years - she was actually pretty similar to my Welshie mares - fun and whizzy, but I trusted her. I hope your chap has a happy retirement. It sounds as though he deserves it. x

Thank you. Yes he’s just so lovely. He’s the kindest funniest most delightful lad. 🤞

I hope he finds a person who loves him into his retirement

My special overseas boy was in Namibia and I was over the moon when they posted he was retiring to a farm to have a more laid back riding life. I was the first ever client to ride him a long, long time ago and I knew he'd turned into one of their key guide horses so it was lovely / bitter sweet to find old age was catching up with him and they'd retired him.
