please could you fill out my short survey on horse retirement as i am doing a project at college where i study horse management. I would be really gratefull if you could spare a few minutes for me! Thank you very much!

(small scale as in worked for approx 2 hours on a Saturday morning)

other - he just wouldn't take it easy, he still thinks he is immortal

kept in luxury with me, no expense spared

other - had had two falls when cantering and deemed unsafe to ride due to strangeness of falls where the front end seemed to stop working and the back end kept going. Not worth a diagnosis on an animal I was keeping busy after my daughter outgrew him and who we were happy to keep as a companion.

She's a gypsy cob

5.What was it used for before retirement?
leisure, she had also been a broodmare before coming to us, which the vet thought might be a significant factor

C - injuries to skeletal frame caused by racing too young
P - old age & arthitis
N - old age, and old injuries causing arthritic changes in joints
T - injuries from racing

3.Where did it retire to?
C - still have him, living in luxury livery
P - kept at home, then livery until he was PTS at 34yrs old
N - kept at home until he died of a fit at 24yrs old
T - kept at home until he had to be PTS at 19yrs after Tendon burst in field

C - TB
P - Hunter
N - TB
T - TB

5.What was it used for before retirement?
C - Racing, then hacking/dressage
P - Hunting
N - Eventing & Hunting
T - Racing then hacking

6.Did it have any health issues before retiring?
C - wear and tear related problems from racing
P - no health issues apart from old age related
N - typical wimpy TB, nothing major but often minor unsoundness for a variety of reasons
T - he'd had his tendons fired after racing
