My TB came out of his stable very lame behind on saturday afternoon. He had trotted around field in the morning perfectly fine. There was a scrawk mark on floor in stable and I suspect he has slipped behind and pulled/torn something.
At first we thought, as he had been shod on Thursday that maybe there was a nail bind, but there has been no sign of any heat or swelling anywhere on leg or foot. Sunday we noticed some tiny dots of sweat on his quarter and yesterday a small dint - but this is below where the sweat marks were. This seemed to suggest damaged muscle. I am awaiting a call back from vet to see what they think. At the moment have been advised to cold hose for as long possible regularly and keep him out as it will seize up if he's kept immobile for too long.
Has anyone experienced this type of injury before as its not something I have dealt with?
I am guessing it is going to take some length of time to recover?
Would like to hear anyones experiences of this type of injury
