hi, my boys just been diagnosed with an inflamed suspensory ligament (proximal suspensory desmitis) and is on box rest for 3 months to start off with .

I'm ultrasounding him every day and also DMSO every day this week but for next week thought maybe magnetic boots.

Does anyone know if magnetic bioflow boots or wraps would help healing at all for a suspensory injury- its not torn or ripped just inflamed apparently and he has slight arthritic changes in his hocks as well. He's already on cortaflex and pernamax supplements .

Any info from anyone would be so apprecitated as i want my boy back fit and healthy

Personally I'd ditch the DMSO ... was it a vet that told you to use it?
And get your vet to come and give the horse a course of shockwave therapy.

I was at a talk recently on Magnetic Therapy. Talk was done by Armadillo, but seemed to be quite balanced. Apparently the only thing that has been proven is that Magnets have been shown to increase circulation (but only to the area they are applied). They recommended that if using magnets for lower leg, that magnets were fitted above the hock or knee (this will still affect the flow to and from the lower limb, without the risk of heating the tendons). They advised that if magnetic wraps/boots were fitted on the lower leg (below knee/hock), they were not left on for more than 1 hour. Also apparently only South pole magnets should be use (can't remember why).

maxi- yeah my vet said to use DMSO every morning for a week and ultrasound every evening- why would you ditch the DMSO? doesn't it help? - vet said something about helping healthy healing and free radicals!
not very technically minded when comes to these kinds of things - have looked up PSD everywhere and loads of opinions on it - healing wise. Alot say SWT but vet didn't suggest this to me yet! don't know why but will speak to him again.
My boys being rescanned in 3 weeks time to see if current treatments doing anything.

Piebald sparkle- thanks for that- doesn't look as though will be much use for suspensory then as the only ones i've seen that you can buy are attached to below the hock area.
