Hey, just wondering what sort of advice/techniques you use for any suspensory ligament injuries your horses may of had in the past?

just trying to gather some information really so anything you have to say please do :)

thanks, R x (also in New Lounge)

My older TB done his suspensory earlier this year, unfortunately at the same time he aggravated an old bone chip injury in the same leg. He has had PRP therapy on suspensory and it looks like, from the scans, it is healing well but because he has just had an op to remove chips we dont know how sound he is with the suspensory, if u know what i mean!!

One of my horses had front suspensory ligament damage. Basically the 'cure' was a year off in a field and then she came back completely sound and it never bothered her again.

Over the years I have had 3 horses that have done ligaments (All advanced endurance horses)

My 20 yr old did a front one as a 10 year old she has ultra sound and injections 12 months on she went and completed a 50 mile ride and then has won races and completed the 100 over Exmoor in the Golden Horse shoe. Including coming first in the Arab Marathon at the age of 19

my 14 yr old gelding did a very bad hind suspensory ligament ( a hole as big as a golf ball) 12 months ago and the vet said he would at best a field friend, but in August this year he completed a 40 mile endurance ride.
He had shock wave and PRP, controlled turn out (He does not do box rest)

Three years ago one of my other mares did both her check ligaments this year she came third (In a racing finish) in a 100k endurance race.

With the right treatment and controlled work they can come back to full work.

I also used homeopathic treatment which helps.
