Mum and I was leading our 3 (I had my two and mum had hers) in from the field this afternoon, walking down the track in the field to the gate a car pulled up by the field, 4 men got out and said hello then one asked for a photo of my horses, I asked him to repeat himself as he wasn’t very clear the first time, another man was getting a camera out, I asked why and he just said I want a photo with your horse. I politely said no sorry and carried on walking. They didn’t go and I’m not sure if they then took a photo of another horse that was in the field.
Would you find this odd or not?

yes i would be concerned and would contact police at least for them to log it .i would also write down any details you can remember. you cant be too careful and it seems an odd thing for 4 men to be doing on a sunday afternoon.

yes, that would freak me out. I would also report to police and inform any houses surrounding the field to make them aware, I would also make 2 hourly visits to the field for the next few days and vary my times for the next month or so.

could be nothing but best to be careful xx

It's odd - but there are odd people around (LOTS of them!) Maybe they were just city types who were having a drive in the country and fancied having their pic taken with a nice horse. Maybe they were thieves looking for potential targets - but pretty stupid thieves to draw attention to themselves in that way as a nasty paranoid person like me would have noted their registration number!

Echo others who have advised 'be alert' - if you DID get the reg.no. might be worth letting your local Horsewatch know - so others can keep an eye out for them.

Yes. We had some foreigners buzzing round this area last year, taking random photos of horses.

Report it to Police and to Neighbourhood Watch if there is one.

I would report it to the police, along with the reg number and descriptions (if I could remember!).

I know there are all sorts of peeps around, but it's one of those things that won't harm if you do register it with the police.

unfortunatly I didn't get their reg number and can't remember what car it was. I didn't think quick enough about doing that :( but I have told others about it on the yard.
These men were also foreigners, I will report it and will find out if we have a neighbourhood / horse watch.

We had 2 men last year going round our local area photographing horses, turned out it was the local council enforcement officers checking on amount of horses/per acre of land, a few people had issues with them after for over grazing - although that would probably not be the case on a Sunday, just make sure you get word round all horse owners in your area just to be sure.
