So after yesterday's Millie's 2 thread, I thought it only fair i should also share Suzy's One Year Ownerversary!

Early last year i decided I wanted another dog in my life - I wanted a skinnydog of some kind - a boy ideally a whippet type... after contacting a couple of organisations I went to see a retired racer - he was lovely - I just wasnt convinced on how good he was going to be with cats and as the lady of the house Gypsycat needs to be considered I decided he wasnt for me... So I then contacted Greyhound Rescue West of England - it all happened very quickly - I had a phone call the next day saying they could homecheck that day - which we passed, and then had a call inviting me to the kennels 2 days later...

so exactly a year ago i trundled off to Cheshire with Millie to meet a couple of perspective dogs. When I got there they told me about Suzy - I wasnt convinced i wanted a girl - with already having Millie - but they are the experts...

4 hours later, I was smitten! and Suzy the lurcher (of completely unknown parentage) came home with Millie and I! Suzy had been pillar to post from about 8 months (ish) its believed, and at only 18 months - 2 years old had spent the vast majority of time in kennels - but GRWE did manage to place her in a foster home for a number of months (the foster home was the lady that did my home check!) She was renowned for her endless energy and bouncy nature. The homing officer said she had been waiting for someone like me to come along, as she knew I'd give her the exercise and mental stimulation she needs!

when she first got home - doing a very good impression of Dobby the House Elf (for any harry potter fans out there)

but was soon making the place her own...

She got to know Milliecent, and started building up her fitness after a long spell in Kennels.

Recall was NOT one of Suzy's strengths - so offlead time was limited to begin with...however when she was offlead she had a ball!

she had her first trip to the beach

and was exhausted after her longest ever walk with me (about 7 hours!!! :0)

she just loves to run

Millie and Suzy's bond has just gotten stronger and stronger

Suzy had her first christmas with me...

And started going out walking with LOTS of other dogs - she was a little 'reactive' to dogs when we were out walking - not aggressive - but desperate to play - she is so much better these days and happily walks past other dogs giving no reation at all!

I love this dog - she is such a different dog compared to when i brought her home, recall (85% of the time!) relaxed, calm and so so loving!

Well apart from the obvious abuse that's going on (hats, coats....)

What is there to say other than that is one lucky, lucky dog. She has found the most wonderful home with you. And i must admit to getting a bit teary reading through that and looking at your photos.

Just brilliant. Thanks for sharing!!!

Haha! Yes well the torture of the hats and jumper (I stand by the proper dog coat though) is just something she'll have to put up with - I think she secretly enjoys it!!

Thanks for the lovely words, you've got me welling up now!

Well she certainly looks happy now, she has a lovely face and both her and Millie seem the best of pals

Congrats on your owniversary!

Bootiful girl:) and the last close up are gorgeous. They make a really cute pair those 2, and I agree she has well and truely landed on her feet with you.:)

Thanks everyone!

I keep telling my Nan she ought to knit more of the 'jumpers' and I'd sell them for her - everyone who has seen them thinks they're fab!

I have to be honest and say mine have only worn them for that photo though...

She is such a lovely girl!
I absolutely LOVE those pics of her in the snow - they almost brought a tear to my eye:p
Hope to see you again soon - p'haps bump into you and your girls at Battram - we are there 3 or 4 times a week:D
