So after yesterday's Millie's 2 thread, I thought it only fair i should also share Suzy's One Year Ownerversary!
Early last year i decided I wanted another dog in my life - I wanted a skinnydog of some kind - a boy ideally a whippet type... after contacting a couple of organisations I went to see a retired racer - he was lovely - I just wasnt convinced on how good he was going to be with cats and as the lady of the house Gypsycat needs to be considered I decided he wasnt for me... So I then contacted Greyhound Rescue West of England - it all happened very quickly - I had a phone call the next day saying they could homecheck that day - which we passed, and then had a call inviting me to the kennels 2 days later...
so exactly a year ago i trundled off to Cheshire with Millie to meet a couple of perspective dogs. When I got there they told me about Suzy - I wasnt convinced i wanted a girl - with already having Millie - but they are the experts...
4 hours later, I was smitten! and Suzy the lurcher (of completely unknown parentage) came home with Millie and I! Suzy had been pillar to post from about 8 months (ish) its believed, and at only 18 months - 2 years old had spent the vast majority of time in kennels - but GRWE did manage to place her in a foster home for a number of months (the foster home was the lady that did my home check!) She was renowned for her endless energy and bouncy nature. The homing officer said she had been waiting for someone like me to come along, as she knew I'd give her the exercise and mental stimulation she needs!
when she first got home - doing a very good impression of Dobby the House Elf (for any harry potter fans out there)
but was soon making the place her own...
She got to know Milliecent, and started building up her fitness after a long spell in Kennels.
Recall was NOT one of Suzy's strengths - so offlead time was limited to begin with...however when she was offlead she had a ball!
she had her first trip to the beach
and was exhausted after her longest ever walk with me (about 7 hours!!! :0)
She also posed for photos...
Recall started to improve so she could be offlead more and more
she just loves to run

Millie and Suzy's bond has just gotten stronger and stronger

Suzy had her first christmas with me...
And started going out walking with LOTS of other dogs - she was a little 'reactive' to dogs when we were out walking - not aggressive - but desperate to play - she is so much better these days and happily walks past other dogs giving no reation at all!
more posing for photos
my nan knitted them matching jumpers!!
