Does anyone use one? I just want some more information on it and its actions, as until yesterday I had never heard of it.

I am wondering whether it would be suitable for my horse who is a nightmare out hunting. She puts her head down, snatches the reins out of my hands, leaps and then charges off

And she hates poll pressure.

The swales does not apply poll pressure - hence is it useful for those horses that don't respond well to it.

It can be severe but like all bits, only severe if the hands are hard. Some showing folks use it as a quick fix but in the right hands on the right horse it is a useful bit.

Used a lot in the show ring, I think it is at the moment a lot of people use it almost for fashion - like three ring gags for jumping.

Must be ridden with two reins and the shanks etc can vary.

Might be your answer.
