Swamp fever - latest figures

I live in Staffordshire and someone has contacted me this morning to ask if the new cases of EIA reported in Staffs are local to me.

Like you, I can only find the latest information on the Defra site relating to the cases in Devon and Northumberland last month and Wiltshire in April. Nothing regarding my County at all, or any cases in recent days.

I have no idea how the person, who has mentioned this to me, has heard of the suspected new cases but I've been told "3 have been PTS and a 4th tested. PM results/confirmation not received yet."

As I say, there is no confirmation/report of a further outbreak in Staffs or anywhere in the UK on the Defra site. At the moment, until/if it's confirmed it's pure speculation. Defra has always been pretty quick with updated press released of suspected cases, later informing of negative results...so they're not backwards in spreading the word.

I can find no news of news outbreaks - can I agree with others to put this to rumour currently and let's keep speculation to the minimum as this can often be far more damaging.

Let's also hope there are no further outbreaks in the UK.
