not affected or on said yard.. just found out today that it is on the yard we thought it was and just wanted to know if its around the minety area as we first worried it was a yard a mile up the road from us..but is a little further away.
I don't think its a case of "outing" people but i do feel in a lot of ways defa should name the yard with all the local events starting up to give people a choice where we take there horses...

QR - OP if you're so local surely you've noticed the activities in the affected yard? It's the one in Braydon near Minety that we've all been very careful not to name - except everyone know's - especially as yards within a certain distance of it have also been visited by DEFRA and had their horses checked.

well hopefully can all agree that it should be named..i don't want to take mine out and about in a area which could effect my horses no matter how small the vets say the chances are..even more so when if this was to spread the only way forward for the animals is for them to be destroyed!!!
and even if defa won't say or the the yard its self fair enough but the fact the area or village could be named then why not...at least we know its near minety and not to go any where near...

I would suggest being very careful about this. Having had my horse on a yard where we sadly contracted strangles I read the story on this forum and others condemning us, the stories got worse and spiraled out of control. I am not saying that you are doing this but people are very quick to condemn without knowing all the facts. In this case I knew the true story and after taking legal advise was able to advise the YO on how to manage both the slander and libel that damaged her livelihood and affected all our lives for six months. My understanding is that even if you don't name but imply that it is someone and they can show that this behavour has directly affected them then you can be in trouble.
