I ride a 15.1 tbx at the moment - he takes my leg up surprisingly well considering that I am 5ft 10, but I do find that when riding at dressage length, it is quite tricky to get my leg on. He is sharp and doesn't need spurs per se, but he is used to being ridden in them, so I thought I might get some 'swan neck' spurs so that it's a little easier to apply the aid.

All fine and well in practice, but I wasn't sure if they are comp legal or not - affiliated dressage/eventing/BSJA. Don't want to go and get myself disqualified

Since the standard rule is that the spurs angle downwards, I'm not sure how stewards would react to the appearance of them??

Anyone know about this - I don't have any rulebooks to hand...

right - okay!

so swan neck spurs are for the dressage phase only then. I guess that's when I need them most anyway.

Will check the BE rulebook re. using them in an eventing dressage phase...

rubbish! it's a choice then, between not being able to get my leg on, or riding like a jockey.
I know mark todd managed it with Charisma, but I am no mark todd!
