Hi
I am wanting some advice re the swayness(if there is such a word!) of horseboxes. As some may recall, my box failed mot and needs some jobs doing on it which other half hasnt got around to even starting yet! Anyway my friend is talking about selling her box .
Now we were having a good old nosey at it last night needs a few jobs on it respray, etc but didnt look cosmetically like it will need all of the welding my chassis does etc! anyway when bf was inside he started to rock side to side and omg it was swaying soooooo much now I have never noticed mine do this so we were thinking- ooooo springs etc may have gone (a 17.2 hw has been in it- I know I know re weights but it wasnt me!) so we went to my box next, hadnt got my key to get inside the box but when pushed stilled swayed quite a bit? So on to the next a downrated 10 tonne box- again couldnt go inside but still rocks quite a bit.
Soooo the point of my post!
How much swayness/rocking do you think a box should have? My friends is forward facing with side ramp and I am thinking if it had too much sway would it be safe with one in? but what needs checking for the swaying??? At the mo not sure if she is going to at least do the mot test to see what needs doing etc before sells I am trying to talk her into it.
At the mo its all swings and roundabouts as hers is considerably older than mine, even with an old style choke etc but her body layout is much better could put box on newer chassis but then I still need to sort my own out??
Any advice please
